After learning that the man convicted of killing her mother is set to be released from prison, Zoe and private investigator JACKIE STONE (50s) return to the family cabin in search of the truth behind what really happened.

Discovering Zoe's paintings, Archie reverts to his alcoholic state as Zoe and Jackie explore the cabin and the neighboring towns.

Frank is released from prison and picked up by his brother MIKE (late 40s) while Zoe befriends her friendly, but grizzled neighbor WALTER (60s). Jackie uses her connections as a former police officer and discovers a dead body of a suspect. She is suspected of murder and taken into police custody.
