We meet MARGARITA at the gym as she gallops on a treadmill, quickly falling off. She races home on her bike, which has a horse head at the front of it. We enter into her world briefly, filled with ethereal music and the sound of horses galloping.

Margarita stops at a stables near her house to pet the horse, and is yelled at by the stable owner.

We meet SANDY, Margarita's mother, who is undergoing chemotherapy. Sandy and Margarita have a contentious relationship, but clearly love each other.

Margarita, riding her bike around, sees a dance studio full of preteens performing hobbyhorse -- dancing with faux horses. She's entranced.

Sandy asks Margarita to get a job to help support the two of them, Margarita reluctantly agrees. She asks her mom about horse riding lessons and her mom says that it's too expensive. Margarita asks if she can ride a fake horse instead, and her mom agrees.

Sandy takes Margarita to a Halloween store that's hiring. She talks to the manager and, despite initial awkwardness, manages to impress him with her sales abilities.

After work, Margarita goes to the hobbyhorse dance studio. She asks to join. She lies about her age,...
