TED KACZYNSKI is approached by student BARBARA who asks him if he would like to volunteer for to be a participant in a psychology experiment. He initially refuses, but once she stresses how great of an opportunity this would be for him, he accepts.
Ted is accepted into the program after having taken a psychology test. He meets with DR. HENRY MURRAY, the conductor of these experiments. They have an introductory conversation. Getting to know each other. Murray questions Ted about his hometown, his parents, and how much he likes Harvard so far. Murray expresses how similar he is to Ted, gaining his trust.
After their meeting, Ted leaves. Murray pulls out a recording device from the top of his cabinet. Labelling the tape: "Lawful 001." He has Barbara transcribe the tape.
Ted runs into Michael, a fellow student he tutors. Michael tells Ted that he's not gonna make it to their math sessions this week so he can take a rendezvous with a girlfriend. Michael tells Ted, that he doesn't even need to excel in this math class. No matter what his grades end up being, he knows his dad will be saving a seat for him at his company....
