A car is overturned by the side of a highway.

A major Vegas boxing match is under way. RAY TENNYSON (50), the referee, briefs two fighters. The match begins. Two large, tattooed men watch on. After, Ray goes to a bar then home to his wife, CONNIE (40s).

In a Reno courtroom, Ray is the judge of a case. Ray makes a point that he never rechecks things, whether it be court transcripts or fight replays.

Ray instructs a room full of boxers. He catches tiny details. HOOVER (Adult), athletic commissioner, reveals Ray is considering opening a boxing gym and approaching retirement.

KURT REDFORD, another commissioner, offers Ray the opportunity to be an Olympic referee. Ray excitedly agrees to try out.

At Ray's retirement party, GRAHAM YATES (60s) mentions CAMERON MILLS (20s), an ex-convict that Ray sentenced years ago. Ray pretends not to remember.

In a flashback, the trial of Cameron Mills is shown. He is 17 when sentenced for drug counts and vehicular homicide. He mentions boxing and is implied to have attacked Ray at the end.

In present times, Ray goes to the Olympic campus. He sees DANNY PENA (40s), a friend and fellow ref.

Kurt walks Ray through paperwork...
