AMELIA YATES, forties, walks her way through an U.S. airbase located in Afghanistan. JACKSON, a sergeant, meets Amelia in an abandoned air hanger, alerting her that COLONEL WILLIAMS wants to talk to her.

Williams wants Amelia to go to an all-male unit in Korengal, one of the most dangerous places in the world, to investigate ISMAIL, an interpreter's, disappearance. Amelia, without hesitation, agrees to go.

In a dining facility, Amelia encounters ELI who taunts her about being careful, mentioning a contractor that was raped and strangled. Amelia leaves the conversation feeling uneasy.

Walking alone at night, Amelia senses someone is following her, so she pulls a knife out and stabs the stranger behind her: it is Eli. He bleeds out. Amelia goes to Jackson for help and he ensures her that everything will be alright. Amelia sobs as she scrubs the blood off herself.

Amelia flies into Korengal. She meets CAPTAIN REED and he gives her a tour of the base. She meets the other privates. She questions Reed about Ismail. He shows her where Ismail was living: it's pretty bare, except for under the bed in which a snake design is carved into the linoleum.

Amelia tells everyone...
