HILLARY HALL (35), an obsessed rock climber, attempts to break the free solo speed record. Her team NEIL (30s), JEN (40s), and ERNIE (30s) are filming her for a documentary. Hillary loses her grip. Ernie fails to help her and she lets go and falls off of the mountain.

Two years later, Hillary has mostly recovered, but is still suffering from the effects of her fall. She calls Neil, who she hasn’t spoken to in years, and tells him that she found a mountain that has never been successfully climbed. She wants him and the team to come with her and film it. Neil agrees on one condition: she must answer every question he asks. Also, she has to use ropes. No free soloing.

Hillary and her team are being driven to the base of the mountain, Diyu Shan. Their driver warns them that people have tried to climb the mountain before and failed. Some say that the mountain doesn’t want to be climbed. Neil interviews Hillary. He goes too far and they argue.

The next morning, Hillary and Neil begin to climb the mountain. Hillary’s hand gives out and she falls. She gets it to work again...
