Per Deadline: Giuliano wrote and directed the short film In Sound We Live Forever which played on the festival circuit earlier this year. The short served as a director’s sample for River and was circulated around town. Giuliano wrote the spec while working as a Postmates delivery driver in Hollywood.
A contained horror-thriller following three siblings who, after being stranded in a boat on a country river, are stalked by a masked killer.
A group of three slightly estranged siblings ventures out to the river where their father was murdered to finally put his memory to rest, but once they arrive, they are immediately confronted by a vicious Masked Man and threatened by the same unfortunate fate.
When three siblings go out on their father’s beloved river to dump his ashes, they find themselves fighting for their lives against a masked menace.
Three siblings embark on a journey in the middle of a deserted river in order to spread their father’s ashes in peace, unaware of the masked figure who lurks in the shadows and watches them.

Summer 2002, Spans About a Day. One scene a few weeks before. VHS footage from 1982.
Set mainly in and around a Minnesota river, including on a boat and in the forest. Two scenes in houses (about 20%).
2002. We see a quiet Minnesota river and forest, but hear a FISHERMAN (58) run over by his own boat after it is hijacked.

Tired LUCY (29), her man-child brother DREW (26), and their high-strung sister CARLA (36) drive to the river, stopping briefly to wait for a mile-long train to pass. They lower their boat into the river. Carla and Lucy are both double jointed.

A golden retriever, MAXY, runs out from the woods. Maxy’s loving owner PHOEBE (63) comes after him, and warns the siblings about a fisherman who recently died. She realizes that the siblings are his children.

Drew is afraid of water and reluctant to get on the boat, but his sisters convince him. Carla insists on driving the boat. She drives recklessly fast and misses their spot. They hit something. Carla finally stops. They perform a small ceremony and dump their father’s ashes.

Drew discovers a dead dog in the water: Maxy. Carla denies having accidentally killed him, but Drew and Lucy decide to tell Phoebe.

When Carla tries to start the boat, the engine does not turn on. Lucy realizes that the gas line has become detached and leaked out all the gas. Carla decides to swim to...
