12-2018 - Originally set up at Broad Green. Then Broad Green went under and it went to Paramount Players. Then, in December 2018, Netflix bought all global rights from Paramount Players and produced the film for release on the platform. Per Deadline, "What occurred we hear is that the pic’s champion, former Paramount Players head Brian Robbins, left to run Nickelodeon, and in the wake of that, Paramount marketing couldn’t wrap their heads around selling Eli despite great test scores." 2015 - David co-wrote CHEAP THRILLS, which premiered at SXSW in 2013, where it won the Audience Award and Best First Feature prize. It was released last year by Drafthouse Films.

Present, around two weeks.
90% in a Gothic House in a rural area with secret rooms and modern touches: bedrooms, kitchen, library, foyer, decontamination room, medical exam room, secret sacrificial room. Also a motel and a car.
ELI (11) is having a nightmare about a fire. He wakes up, quarantined in a motel room. His MOM (40s) comforts him. Later, he, his mom, and DAD (40s) hit the road again til they reach a massive Gothic-style "clean" house. He wears a special hazmat-like suit the entire way.

DR. ISABELLA HORN (50s) lets Eli into the house through a decontamination room. They tour the house, and for the first time in a long time, Eli can do ordinary things without his suit — like take a shower.

He opens a closet, and a painful scream echoes out of it. Eli goes to Dr. Horn's office, where she needs to extract marrow to isolate the gene that is causing his autoimmune disorder. He passes out from the anesthetic but sees a mysterious figure before he does.

After the procedure, Eli sees a neighbor, HALEY (11) catching tadpoles in the stream. She taps on his window, and they talk, discussing Eli's sickness and how it kicked in later on in his life.

At night, Eli explores more and sees a crucifix with Jesus's tormented face looking like he's moving and crying out.

Dinner time comes, and Eli asks if Haley can come over...
