2003-2014
Takes place in a small, lower-middle class suburb of Philadelphia. Houses, restaurants, a High School. Football fields, a nature preserve, an equestrian ranch. Limited scenes take place in a prison, a courthouse, and a police station.
in 2003, DEB (32) preps for a date. A mother at 16, Deb lives with her daughter, BRIDGET (17), also a teen mother with a young son named JESSE (1).

Though close, Bridget disapproves of her mother's promiscuous behavior, while Deb is skeptical of Bridget's continued involvement with Jesse's father, TYLER (17).

Deb is having an affair with BRETT (40), a husband and father of two, and regularly sneaks off to have sex in a series of sleazy motels. She believes that she and Brett are in love, and hopes that he will leave his wife.

Across the street live Deb's sister KATHY (34), her husband TERRY (36), and their sons PATRICK (8) and MURPH (10). Unlike Deb, Kath is a conservative, respectable member of the community, who disapproves of her sister's drinking and sleeping around.

Similarly, their mother PEGGY (60s) is disappointed of Deb's behavior. Bridget asks to spend the night at Tyler's house, and Deb reluctantly agrees. However, Bridget never comes home.

Convinced that Tyler is responsible, Deb barges into Tyler's house and accosts he and his mother, who claim they haven't seen Bridget since last night. Deb then reaches out to Bridget's friends, who know nothing of her whereabouts.

Terrified, she contacts the police, who claim they will...
