A group of teenage boys skateboard and rough-house as the sun sets under a bridge. The group thins out until one boy is left alone. The boy carries on, oblivious to the darkness, and is only startled when a dog runs up to him. With his attention on the dog, he doesn’t notice the figure standing over him that sticks a syringe into his arm.

A group of barge workers lift a load out of Lake Erie with a crane. When they dump the crane onto the barge, a decomposed human arm is visible.

Special Agent FRANK “SHARKO” SHARKOVSKY (mid-40s) examines the five skeletons laid out on the shore of the lake, noting that all seem to belong to young boys and that the skulls have been sliced off on the top.
