MALORIE (20s/30s) speaks to young BOY (Child) and GIRL (Child). She instructs them to put on blindfolds, follow her, and not to take them off for any reason. After donning her own blindfold, the three make their way out of a house and through the woods. While in the woods they hear something following them, and Malorie navigates them all to a rowboat that she uses to shove off into a river, escaping whatever is following them.
Five years before, Malorie is pregnant and watches the news. Some sort of airborne pathogen is spreading, causing people to go insane and kill each other. Her sister JESSICA (Adult) comes and takes Malorie to the OB/GYN. On their way home, Jessica sees something that makes her go crazy and she crashes their car in oncoming traffic. Jessica is killed and other crazy people try to kill Malorie. She escapes with the help of TOM (late 30s). They escape to the nearby home of LYDIA (50s) and GREG (50s), along with DONALD (mid-40s), LUCY (20s), and a few others. Lydia goes crazy while ushering everyone into the house and is hit by a car. Donald has information that the issue...
