The tale opens with ERIC CLAPTON (25) worrying about a love letter he has just sent to his best friend GEORGE HARRISON's wife PATTIE BOYD (26).

Back to 1964, where the Yardbirds, Eric's band at the time, is opening for the Beatles. Eric is at the bar, rejects a girl's advances, and storms off. George happens to be there as well, seeing the whole situation unfold, and brings the girl backstage himself. As Eric plays, he breaks off from the song and begins doing an impromptu guitar solo which George hears and admires from backstage. Before he finishes, he sees PATTIE BOYD (20) in the crowd and is mesmerized.

George introduces himself to Eric after he is finished playing, and the friendship is formed.

After numerous complaints from the Yardbirds about Eric's selfish actions/solos, he quits and ends up working in construction. He eventually forms a new band with JOHN MAYALL (33) and JACK BRUCE (26), later known as Cream. He get's a new girlfriend CHARLOTTE (?).

1967 Eric and Charlotte run into George Harrison and Pattie at a club. George gives Eric STP, and Eric goes on a crazy trip that last multiple days. During this trip, he has a flashback where he is in the...
